Administrative History
Mick Gallagher grew up in Penilee, a wee housing scheme on the very south west tip of Glasgow. He came to Anarchism through his teenage involvement with the Vegan Action Group (1987ish), which more or less self-organised along anarchist principles.
The punks active in the VAG would be the first people to introduce Mick to the ideas of Anarchism. Progressing from animal rights to involvement in the Glasgow Anarchist group, Direct Action Movement (DAM), CLASS WAR and Anti-Fascist Action.
He worked at Clydeside Press with Tommy Kayes, at the height of Thatcherism, during the Anti-Poll Tax movement, Anti-Apartheid Movement and many more campaigns. Mick left for New York in Autumn of 1993, where he met Lorenzo Komboa Ervin, author of Anarchism And The Black Revolution. Mick returned to Glasgow in the summer of 1996. He hosted Lorenzo at his parents home in Penilee, on 2 occasions, when he toured the UK.
Mick now lives in East Kilbride with his partner Michelle and two young sons, Otis and Leon.
