Administrative History

Tommy Kayes has been involved in the anarchist movement since 1979. First in Paisley, where he helped run Groucho Marxist Records, releasing the Ha Ha Funny Polis Ep and other records. He also ran the Paisley People’s Press and published the Paisley Gutterpress news-sheet. On moving to Glasgow in 1981 he ran Autonomy Press from the basement of the Glasgow Bookshop Collective in Great Western Rd. He was involved with the Clydeside Anarchists including the publishing of the Practical Anarchy news-sheet. He was active in the Miners Strike including the Price Waterhouse occupation and from 1985 to 2017 worked at Clydeside Press, printing for most activist campaigns in the city. Clydeside Press printed hundreds of thousands of stickers, leaflets, posters and placards for the Anti Poll Tax campaign, published the Worker’s City book and the Glasgow Keelie news-sheet. He is currently involved in publishing Just a wee Glasgow Keelie.
